چکیده

In this paper, we introduce a Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) benchmark to investigate the RSVP protocol through profiling. The benchmark is created by modifying an existing C implementation of RSVP. By running the modified benchmark in a simulation environment, two kinds of profiling results were gathered. First, performance-related results were produced to identify the time-critical functions. Second, the results on architectural characteristics of the benchmark were captured to assist the architectural design of future network processors.

Performance Analysis of various Codecs using RSVP on VoIP Quality of Service over Variable Bandwidth

With the rapid growth of the Internet, customers are demanding multimedia applications such as telephony and video on demand, to be available on the internet. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is a rapidly emerging technology for voice communication that uses the ubiquity of IP-based networks. The greatest challenge is the provisioning of Quality of Service (QoS) over limited bandwidth. Multi...

TARVOS - an Event-Based Simulator for Performance Analysis, Supporting MPLS, RSVP-TE, and Fast Recovery

This paper presents a new discrete event-based network simulator named TARVOS – Computer Networks Simulator, being designed as part of the first Author’s Masters research and will provide support to simulating MPLS architecture, several RSVP-TE protocol functionalities and fast recovery in case of link failure. The tool is used in a case study, where the impact of a link failure on a VoIP appli...

Performance Analysis of IP Resource Reservation Protocols

this project work investigates the scalability limitations of IP resource reservation protocols using RSVP and Boomerang as examples. The memory and processing time consumption of signaling message primitives were measured as a function of the total number of concurrent reservation sessions on PC based routers running Linux. The signaling handling algorithm was also analyzed and critical operat...

Node-ID Based Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) Hello: A Clarification Statement

Use of Node-ID based Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) Hello messages is implied in a number of cases, e.g., when data and control planes are separated, when TE links are unnumbered. Furthermore, when link level failure detection is performed by some means other than exchanging RSVP Hello messages, use of a Node-ID based Hello session is optimal for detecting signaling adjacency failure for ...

Towards RSVP Lite: Light-Weight RSVP for Generic Signaling

RSVP is a reservation setup protocol designed specifically to support QoS signaling in the Internet. However, RSVP end-to-end signaled QoS for the Internet has not become a reality. Moreover, there are many other applications demanding different signaling services. This paper analyses the features of RSVP version 1 we believe to be essential, and its complexity due to QoS-oriented design and mu...
